In March this year – Bristol city centre was awarded the Purple Flag as a ‘well-managed and vibrant’ place to visit.
This is the second year running that the city has received the award. Visitors have plenty to see and do during the day, and increasingly more to do during the evenings – including a vibrant selection of gay and gay friendly bars and clubs.

OneclubA once monthly club night of soulful and funky house for LGBT folk from every section of our community their friends and admirers! Launch night is July 16th Launched by ‘Fundamental Productions’ this monthly club night of soulful and funky house for all of Bristol’s LGBT communities – especially those from Bristol’s black and minority ethnic (BME) groups. Working alongside numerous organisations – including Bristol City Council, The Black Development Agency and Pride Bristol – Fundamental Productions is inviting LGBT people from BME communities to come out and play at ONE, a new club night which launches on Pride Bristol night on 16 July. Having spent many years out and about on the gay scene in both Bristol and London, Pete Aiton and Mike Evans wanted to mix things up and launch a new monthly club night that everyone in Bristol’s LGBT community can enjoy. Pete Aiton, of Fundamental Productions, says: “Bristol is very proud of its huge diversity, yet this diversity is not always reflected in its gay scene.” “With ONE, we are seeking to add a bit more diversity to the mix. Everyone is welcome but we want to create a safe space that will appeal to LGBT folk from Bristol’s black and minority ethnic groups.” Bristol-based DJ Mike Evans is also the BME lead for this year’s Pride Bristol Festival. Mike will be available in the community tent at Pride to discuss the needs of the BME LGBT community in Bristol.

Jockeys PonyM, Bronco and Jim Carna bring you an edgy underground disco with cheap beer and a houseparty vibe, tucked away in a sweaty basement in central Bristol. We play choice cuts of dirty disco, synth, new wave, early house, forgotten pop and a smattering of surprising remixes and re-edits. If it makes the dancefloor throb, we’ll play it. Horseplay is a gay night for gay/bi guys and girls and their friendly friends held at The Cavern Club (Under The Crown) All Saints Lane, St Nicholas Market, Bristol, BS1 1JH | £3 before 12, £4 after – cash only!

Born in November 2003 out of a desperate need for an alternative to the gay scene in Bristol, Wonky is now nearly 8 and is bigger, better and sweatier than ever. The night flows through different genres like your favourite mix-tape and the dancefloor is always rammed til the end! The crowd are the friendliest bunch of homos (and their friends) you’ve ever seen under one roof and as of May 2011, Wonky’s new home is Basement 45! This wicked underground venue situated on Frogmore Street (next to the Hatchet), has 2 sweaty dancefloors, an amaaaazing soundsystem, a properly stocked bar, clean new toilets and a 4am license to name a few spectacular things. Oh… and the other thing: We’re now every FIRST SATURDAY of the month! …….. (Except for JULY!) See you on the dancefloor xx
