We are Family MagazineWe Are Family magazine is for any family unit that has one or more LGBT members: it is for gay and lesbian, bi and trans parents, parents-to-be and grandparents; it is for straight parents coming to terms with their child’s sexuality; it is for grandparents who want to better understand their children and grandchildren; it is for younger people discovering their sexuality. We Are Family’s supportive, engaged, positive editorial content is aimed at the whole family. It is the ONLY LGBT lifestyle magazine in the UK for the entire family.

FFLAG is a national voluntary organisation and registered charity. We are dedicated to supporting parents and their lesbian, gay and bisexual daughters and sons.

We offer support to local parents groups and contacts, in their efforts to help parents and families understand, accept and support their lesbian, gay and bisexual members with love and pride.

FFLAG members are parents of lesbian, gay or bisexual sons and daughters. These young people and their families face serious homophobia in our society, which brings in its wake prejudice, bullying and alienation.

We provide a central point for exchange of information between parents groups and local parent contacts.
FFLAG supports the full human and civil rights of lesbian, gay and bisexual and transgender individuals.
FFLAG speaks out and acts to defend and enhance those human and civil rights.

Our aim is to bring together male-to-female transsexuals & others undergoing gender reassignment. Whatever stage you are at, from trying to decide to fully post-operative, we would like to hear from you. The gender reassignment process is a very demanding and difficult emotional experience, from struggling with the agony of belonging to the wrong sex all the way to recovering from major surgery.  We are a self help group serving Bristol and the surrounding area.

Improving outcomes for Bristol children, young people and families is the key driver for all our work. In order to do this, we must prioritise and focus on key issues. The Bristol Children and Young People’s Plan (CYPP) is the overarching strategic plan to improve outcomes for children, young people and families. The Children’s Services Scrutiny Commission receives quarterly reports on how well we are doing against key performance indicators.  It will also receive updates on our plans and strategies.  The agendas and minutes of these meetings are available on our Committee Minutes page. Our schools, colleges, child care providers and children’s social services are inspected regularly and reports of these inspections can be found on the Ofsted website. We have produced a needs assessment examining the causes and impacts of child poverty in the form of a blog.  You can access it and contribute to the debate. The site also contains a wider series of data, analysis and consultation on the lives of children, young people and families in Bristol.

We are a group of London lesbian parents producing books and resources that reflect our children’s lives and family experiences. A child needs love, support and acceptance for who they are and where they come from: we believe that inclusive books and other materials are an essential part of that support. OFOC Out For Our Children was originally founded in February 2004 by lesbian mothers with very young children to write guidelines as an aid for nurseries ill-prepared to welcome babies and toddlers with lesbian parents. Out for our Children has received financial assistance from the National Lottery Awards for All, the Local Network Fund (Every Child Matters), Haringey Community Chest and the Scarman Trust. These grants have enabled us to run a creche so the group can meet, produce resources and learning materials, run workshops on illustration and writing for children and to run a weekend ‘futures’ workshop.
