We are a group of London lesbian parents producing books and resources that reflect our children’s lives and family experiences. A child needs love, support and acceptance for who they are and where they come from: we believe that inclusive books and other materials are an essential part of that support. Out For Our Children was originally founded in February 2004 by lesbian mothers with very young children to write guidelines as an aid for nurseries ill-prepared to welcome babies and toddlers with lesbian parents. Out for our Children has received financial assistance from the National Lottery Awards for All, the Local Network Fund (Every Child Matters), Haringey Community Chest and the Scarman Trust. These grants have enabled us to run a creche so the group can meet, produce resources and learning materials, run workshops on illustration and writing for children and to run a weekend ‘futures’ workshop.
OutStories Bristol collect and preserve the social history and recollections of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender / transsexual people living in or associated with Bristol, England. We have just started the website: we’ll be adding more so vist regularly to check for content updates.

A social group for lesbians who may not necessarily be into the scene type things. Most of our members are over 35 but all ages are welcome. The group offers a safe and friendly environment where both new and old members can relax and enjoy themselves as well as being an ‘umbrella’ for various smaller groups that are run by individual members (walking, poetry, cycling, discussion, supper groups etc).
It also provides members with a method of communicating one-off events they are hosting or wish to attend as a group. In the last few months there have been Sunday brunches, games nights, poker parties, garden parties and days out to mention a few! Pink Herrings also offers a hosted social twice a month. We meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month at conveniently located venues in Bristol. Pink Herrings produce a regular email newsletter of these and other events in the area.
If you are interested in joining the Pink Herrings, or you would like to talk to someone about the group please email pinkherrings@yahoo.co.uk and one of our members will contact you.
